St John of God Bendigo Hospital is a 122-bed contemporary private hospital located in central Victoria providing high quality acute medical and surgical health care services for people in Bendigo and surrounding areas.

Your role at St John of God Bendigo Hospital

We are seeking a Grade 1 Instrument Technician to join our Operating Suite / CSSD team in a hospital setting.

You will be responsible for the reprocessing of reusable medical devices, including Endoscopy equipment, in accordance with AS/NZS 5369 standards. Working within the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), you will undertake the cleaning, sterilisation, autoclaving and distribution of sterile instruments and supplies, collaborating closely with clinical staff to support safe, high-quality patient care.

This is a casual position offering varying shifts between 7:00am and 10:30pm, Monday to Friday, with some weekend work available. Additional shifts may also be available to support service requirements.

The Position

- Maintain levels of sterile supplies throughout the hospital, ensuring sterile supplies meet all published standards (with reference to AS 4187).
- Collect, clean, process, autoclave and distribute all internal and external linen, instruments as requested, in accordance with industry standards.
- Perform housekeeping duties within CSSD as per department procedures and protocols.




- Ensure all surgical instruments are maintained in excellent condition and problems or breakages are attended to immediately.
- Inform the manager/supervisor of the activities in the CSSD and any special problems.
- Maintains excellent relations with all internal and external customers.
- Participate in, contribute to and implement quality improvement and risk management into all aspects of service

You will have a current understanding of OH&S; legislation, compliance requirements, infection control standards, and WorkCover obligations. Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services (or equivalent) is desirable and demonstrate strong attention to detail, the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
