About Us

The Yankees Restaurant & Bar is a vibrant waterfront restaurant located in Hope Island, offering exceptional food, outstanding service, and a welcoming dining experience. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Chef to join our growing team and help deliver consistently high-quality meals.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, prepare, and present meals in line with our menu and quality standards.
- Ensure consistency in taste, portion sizes, and presentation of every dish.
- Supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff to maintain a productive and positive working environment.
- Maintain inventory, manage stock rotation, and place timely orders for kitchen supplies.
- Ensure the kitchen meets all food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards.
- Assist with seasonal menu development and introduce creative new dishes.
- Monitor kitchen operations to maintain efficiency and quality control.
- Minimise food wastage and maintain appropriate food cost targets.
- Ensure compliance with all workplace health and safety regulations.
- Work collaboratively with the front-of-house team to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Requirements





- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a Chef in a busy commercial kitchen.
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and time-management skills.
- Passion for creating high-quality food and memorable dining experiences.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Desirable

- Experience with modern Australian cuisine, steaks, burgers, seafood, and grill.
- Understanding of dietary requirements, allergies, and special dietary requests.
- Experience with menu costing and stock management.
- Australian work rights or eligibility to work in Australia.
