- Key leadership position overseeing a 2,000 Ha broadacre cropping program.
- Modern, well-maintained equipment fleet.
- Attractive modern 4-bedroom home in Tailem Bend with river access.
Rogy Farms is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and autonomous Cropping Operations Manager to take full ownership of its broadacre cropping program. This position is open to emerging leaders within the broadacre industry.
The Employer:
Rogy Farms is a highly regarded, family-owned mixed farming business operating across 3,900 hectares in Netherton, within the Upper South East and Southern Mallee regions of South Australia. The enterprise balances a 2,000-hectare cereal and pulse broadacre cropping program with a robust livestock operation running 3,500 self-replacing Merino ewes, with a small portion joined to a White Suffolk.
Managed by two active business owners and a dedicated full-time farm hand, Rogy Farms takes immense pride in its land, team culture, and high operational standards. Equipped with well-maintained New Holland machinery and a Hardi self-propelled sprayer, the business is dedicated to continuous improvement, sustainable practice, and long-term agricultural success.
In this pivotal leadership position, the Operational Manager will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring all cropping activities across planting, tending, and harvesting, working closely alongside other operators. A critical focus of the role includes managing all spraying operations, requiring solid expertise in chemical handling, mixing, and application protocols.
The Operational Manager will liaise directly with external agronomists and business owners to drive seasonal plans and manage operational budgets effectively. To succeed, the candidate will bring exceptional initiative, decision-making capabilities, and a proactive problem-solving mindset. Strong mechanical and fabrication knowledge is highly advantageous to ensure high efficiency and proper maintenance of modern farm machinery. While a Heavy Combination (HC) license is desirable,
support can be provided to help the successful candidate obtain one.
The Offer
A competitive remuneration package based on experience will be negotiated, along with a work vehicle designated for travel to and from work. Accommodation options include a quality modern 4-bedroom home located in nearby Tailem Bend with direct river access, or on-farm housing currently undergoing full renovation.
Situated just 1.5 hours from Adelaide, the location offers a rural lifestyle with substantial key amenities close at hand. Tailem Bend and the surrounding Southern Mallee region offer a warm, welcoming community, active sporting clubs, vibrant riverfront recreation, and an excellent selection of public and private schooling options supported by convenient school bus routes.
The Ideal Candidate
We are searching for an enthusiastic, reliable agricultural professional with proven broadacre expertise and a drive for long-term operational success, who possesses the following:
- Emerging leadership and managerial skills in broadacre cropping operations.
- Hands-on expertise in chemical handling, mixing, and broadacre spraying operations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and agronomic knowledge to ensure machinery efficiency and optimal crop outcomes.
- Proven leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage team members and liaise effectively with agronomists and owners.
- High degree of self-motivation, initiative, and the ability to work unsupervised.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and seasonal budget management skills.
- A positive, can-do attitude with adaptability to changing seasonal conditions.
- A Heavy Combination (HC) license is desirable (assistance to attain available).
