Engage with Coulter Legal, our seasonal clerkship program, will help you bridge the gap between theory and practice. Our program is open to law students in their final or penultimate year of study. Coulter Legal offers three Engage with Coulter Legal program places each year. Each clerkship runs for a period of two weeks, between February 2027 and July 2027.

reviewing and considering legislation and case law, and observing lawyers conduct client meetings, mediations and court appearances. During this time, we will also learn about your abilities, skills and career aspirations.

How to apply

Coulter Legal prefers applications from penultimate students (that is, those who are completing their second last year of their law degree).

These are students who are:

– currently studying their penultimate year in 2026
– commencing their final semester in 2027
– eligible to commence a Graduate position any time from February 2028

Key dates

In accordance with the LIV Guidelines, below are the key dates for seasonal clerkship applications:

– Applications for seasonal clerkships will open at 9:00am on Monday 6 July 2026.
– Applications for seasonal clerkships will close on 11.59pm on Sunday 9 August 2026.

Applications received outside of these dates, will not be accepted.
