Grid-Link
Melbourne
At Grid-Link, we’re all about making the energy transition actually happen, not just talking about it.
We’re a specialist engineering consultancy that specialises in delivering comprehensive solutions for integrating energy assets into the grid. Our sweet spot is combining deep technical expertise in power systems, modelling and compliance with real, hands-on experience in Design, Grid Connection, HV testing, commissioning, and project delivery.
In short, we help get energy projects connected, energised, and moving faster and with less risk.
Our goal is simple: enable a more sustainable, carbon-free energy future.
About the Role
We’re growing fast and we’re on the lookout for Commissioning Engineers and Commissioning Testers to join the team in Melbourne.
This isn’t just another commissioning role. You’ll be hands-on across HV substations, both brownfield and greenfield, as well as utility-scale solar, wind, and BESS projects.
You’ll also get involved earlier in the lifecycle, including upfront engineering, detailed design development, and commissioning planning.
If you like seeing a project through from concept to energisation, you’ll feel right at home.
You’ll be working closely with internal engineers and project teams, as well as clients, TNSPs, OEMs and AEMO.
Based in Melbourne, with site travel across Australia depending on the project.
What You’ll Bring
You don’t need to tick every box, but ideally:
The essentials:
- Electrical Engineering degree or Advanced Diploma in Power Systems
- Around 3+ years in substation and or renewable commissioning
- Solid understanding of power systems, protection and control
- VESI authorisations and local experience
The hands-on stuff:
- End-to-end commissioning experience on HV substations or renewables
- Building commissioning plans, schedules, FAT and SAT reports
- Protection testing such as distance, differential and CB management using Omicron or Doble
- Primary plant testing including CBs, CTs, CVTs and transformers
- SCADA and control systems testing
Bonus points if you’ve got:
- Testing authorities such as AusNet, Transgrid, ElectraNet or Powerlink
- Engineers Australia membership or working towards it
- Good understanding of secondary and protection designs
And importantly:
- You communicate well, both in office and off
- You can work across different teams without friction
- You write reports that people actually understand
Why Grid-Link?
You’ll work with people who really know their stuff and are happy to share it
- Projects are genuinely interesting, not cookie-cutter
- You’ll get exposure across the full project lifecycle, not just one slice
- A culture that values balance, not burnout
- Support for Engineers Australia membership
- Health and social initiatives
- Melbourne CBD office
- Competitive salary
If you enjoy solving real engineering problems, want to work on projects that actually matter, and like the idea of being involved from early design through to energisation, this is a pretty good place to do it.
