We are looking for a Mental Health Support Worker to join our Individualised Community Living Strategy (ICLS) program providing outreach support to people accessing the service in Broome.
The service is for clients with a mental health diagnosis who are eligible for a support package. The role of the Mental Health Support Worker is to help the client access their local services and maximise their recovery success.
This is a casual position with shifts across Monday to Friday in the hours between 8am and 5pm (no shift work!).
Successful candidates will have previous experience working 1:1 with people with mental illness or psychosocial disability, strong communication skills and confidence in working independently within the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated support clients with a mental health diagnosis, focusing on his recovery and community living goals
- Coach and encourage independence through daily routines and decision-making
- Assist with cooking, cleaning, and home upkeep, empowering the client to take control of their daily living
- Encourage community access and engagement in local activities
- Support capacity building and self-management of lifestyle and wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with clinical and mental health support teams
- Follow and contribute to individualised support plans
Skills & Experience
- Certificate IV in Mental Health or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience working autonomously with people with mental illness or psycho-social disability
- Passionate about client outcomes and mental health advocacy
- High computer literacy and administration skills
- An unrestricted Western Australian driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- A current First Aid and CPR certificate
