Cook / Chef – Daytime Hours | Neko Geelong

Neko Geelong is a cat-themed Japanese and Asian fusion café located in central Geelong. We are known for fresh ingredients, well-balanced flavours, and a welcoming café environment inspired by Japanese culture and our love of cats.

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Cook / Chef to join our kitchen team on a on-going casual basis (minimum 30 hours per week). This role suits someone who values consistency, professionalism, and teamwork in a fast-paced café kitchen. Opportunity to transfer to full time position for the right candidate. Sponsorship available for the right candidate.

Trading Hours (No Late Nights):

- Monday – Friday: 7:00am – 3:00pm
- Saturday: 9:00am – 2:00pm
- Sunday: Closed

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare, cook, and present Japanese and Asian fusion café dishes
- Ensure consistent food quality, taste, and presentation
- Assist with daily kitchen prep and service
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards
- Ability to work independently and competently without the Head Chef's supervision
- Assist with stock control,



ordering, and stock rotation
- Minimise food waste and maintain portion control
- Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team

About You:

- Previous experience as a cook or chef in a commercial kitchen
- Weekdays and Saturdays availability
- Good knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene
- Punctuality and reliability are essential
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced café workplace
- Strong attention to detail and consistency
- Positive, team-focused attitude
- Availability to work within our trading hours, including Saturdays
- Experience with Japanese or Asian cuisine is an advantage
