Primary objective
Review, assess and monitor mineral exploration activity, and contribute to a small team to deliver geoscientific advice and
statutory industry report and data management in the administration of the Mineral Titles Act.

Context statement
The role will support the Manager Minerals Reporting in the provision of advice for government on mineral exploration
activity in the Northern Territory, and provide advice to industry on statutory reporting requirements and compliance.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assess and manage statutory mineral exploration reports to ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and mineral title

requirements.
2. Provide geoscientific advice to government, industry, and stakeholders on exploration activities, reporting obligations and

compliance matters.
3. Evaluate mineral title applications,



renewals and work programs, and provide recommendations to support informed

decision-making.
4. Support the capture, management and digitalisation of industry geoscientific data to improve accessibility, discoverability

and long-term value.
5. Manage and improve geoscientific data, systems and workflows to enhance data quality, accessibility and governance.
6. Build effective relationships with industry, government and other stakeholders to support collaboration and information

sharing.
7. Contribute to policy development, industry intelligence, research and briefing materials to inform decision-making.
8. Maintain contemporary geoscience, mineral exploration and data management knowledge and contribute to a positive,

cooperative workplace culture.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Tertiary qualification in geoscience or related field from a recognised institution.
2. Demonstrated experience in minerals exploration with a expert knowledge of current exploration techniques
3. Demonstrated attention to detail, high level analytical and research skills and the ability to interpret resources legislation,

complex technical information, identify risks and provide evidence-based advice and recommendations
4. Experience in geoscientific data and information management, including the use of spatial systems and digital tools to

support data quality, governance, accessibility and discoverability.
5. High level communication and negotiation skills, with a strong client focus and the ability to influence outcomes across

both technical and non-technical boundaries
6. Proven ability to manage competing priorities, deliver projects and contribute to organisational objectives in a complex and

changing environment
7. Well-developed interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams

and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

Desirable
1. Knowledge of the geology and mineral resources of the Northern Territory
