Position Details:
The successful applicant(s) will be appointed as Accredited Radiology Trainee(s) of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) and employed within one of the ‘home hospitals’ in the NSW Radiology Training Networks (i.e. Local Area Network (LAN) 1, 2 or . Applicant’s site preferences will be required at the time of interview, however successful applicants may not always be accommodated at their first preferred site and can be allocated to any of the LAN training sites.

Please note that trainees will be required to complete rotations to other sites within their allocated LAN during their 5 years of training and will also need to meet all other curriculum requirements to attain their RANZCR Fellowship. Trainees will spend no more than four years at any single training site within their five-year training program, a RANZCR requirement.

What you'll be doing
Trainees will be taught to learn, observe and participate in all stages of the radiological examination of patients including assessing referrals, triaging, supervision, performance, reporting and communication of results. They will participate in all functions of the Medical Imaging Department as trainee medical experts, including scholarship, professionalism, teamwork, communication, advocacy and management.

At the end of training, they will be expected to:

- Provide expert radiology advice to clinicians and referrers.
- Competently perform a variety of imaging guided procedures.
- Provide multi-disciplinary care to patients.
- Communicate their radiology interpretations verbally and in writing.
- Discuss the use of diagnostic and interventional procedures with patients and their carers.
- Demonstrate the safe use of medical imaging devices and associated pharmaceutical agents.




- Understand the importance of ethical radiological practice and patient confidentiality.
- Learn skills necessary to manage a radiological practice.
- Understand the importance of continuing professional development, lifelong learning, research and teaching in the continuing development of Clinical Radiology as a profession.

Contract lengths
In general, Radiology initial training contracts are for five-years to fulfil the five-year training requirement.

The NSW Radiology Training Network comprises several hospitals across metropolitan, regional and rural NSW. Each network provides trainees with access to a wide range of radiological subspecialties, imaging modalities and clinical environment.

The program ensures balanced exposure to general and subspecialty radiology including but not limited to:

- Musculoskeletal Imaging
- Paediatric Radiology
- Neuroradiology
- Interventional Radiology
- Breast Imaging
- Obstetric and Gynaecologic Imaging
- Nuclear Medicine
- Cardiothoracic Imaging
- Emergency and Trauma Radiology

Trainees will participate in structured teaching programs, academic meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and access to research and professional development opportunities.

1. First year applicants only must submit a verification number from RANZCR. Existing RANZCR Trainees applicants do not require a number.
2. Relevant clinical experience and a clear commitment to radiology and the training jurisdiction
3. Active preparation for RANZCR training with relevant coursework and exam preparation.
4. Ability to work independently, effectively manage time, and display resilience in complex clinical settings.
5. Strong written, verbal, and multimedia communication supporting collaboration, teamwork and empathetic patient interaction.
6. Solid academic record with evidence of learning, teaching, commitment to career development and an understanding of audit and quality improvement.
7. Involvement in research, publications, presentations, teaching activities highlighting any significant contributions or first-author work relative to opportunity.
8. Experience or commitment to delivering healthcare in regional, rural or underserved settings, demonstrating understanding of rural health challenges and service delivery.
