Haines Hunter, one of Australia’s most iconic boat manufacturers, is seeking an EXPERIENCED Fibreglass Boat Builder / Shipwright to join our growing Research & Development department and Boat Repairs.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone confident across all aspects of fibreglass boat construction, repair, and structural rebuilds.

You will play a key role in maintaining the high-performance standards and craftsmanship Haines Hunter is known for.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform high-quality gelcoat colour matching and repairs
- Carry out structural repairs and rebuilds including transoms, stringers, bulkheads, and flooring
- Fibreglass laminating, grinding, fairing, and finishing to a professional standard
- Fabrication and assembly of boat components and internal fit outs
- Diagnose structural issues and recommend effective repair methods
- Apply coatings, gelcoat, and finishes
- Inspect, maintain, and repair vessel components
- Work safely with resins, catalysts, and composite materials
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workspace
- Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and quality standards
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company procedures
- Work both independently and within a team

What We’re Looking For

- Formal qualification in Boat Building or a related trade (Certificate IV in Marine Craft Construction preferred)




- Fibreglass boat building/repair experience (essential)
- Proven experience in gelcoat repairs, fibreglass laminating, and structural rebuilds
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
- Team-oriented with positive communication skills
- Australian permanent resident or citizen
