Rare Engineering Group is now seeking a Geotechnical Engineer based out of Perth. The role will require secondments to minesites, across a wide variety of projects, commodities and locations. Rare is an independent geotechnical services provider, specialising in Geotechnical site services. Our focus is services to the minesite, while developing and integrating new technologies to make the geotechnical engineer’s role simpler, freeing up your time to do what matters – engineering.

Located in Perth, Rare is a new, exciting and expanding company leveraging off significant mining industry experience, strategic partnerships with key companies and technology providers, having global reach to many exciting and challenging mining projects.

Rare is seeking a suitably qualified Geotechnical Engineer to join its Perth based team. The role is open to underground or open pit geotechnical specialists in their field. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the position will undertake secondments to our client’s minesites in the capacity of a site geotechnical engineer. Your main responsibilities will include:

- Delivering operational geotechnical engineering on client mine sites through secondment, taking day-to-day technical responsibility in line with client requirements.
- Assessing rock mass conditions and structural geology.
- Designing,



optimising and trialling ground support regimes.
- Undertaking stope and excavation stability assessments.
- Conducting underground geotechnical inspections to assess ground conditions, recommending rehabilitation or support upgrades where required.
- Developing and maintaining geotechnical databases.
- Preparing geotechnical assessments, reports and design recommendations.
- Consulting and engaging with clients, mining, geology and technical teams, and contributing to project teams to deliver practical engineering solutions and improved client outcomes.
- Contributing to geotechnical risk management and to continuous improvement of current and future operations.

Skills and experience:

- Degree in Geological Engineering, Geology or Civil Engineering, or postgraduate qualifications in Mining Geomechanics or equivalent.
- Minimum one-year full-time or equivalent part time experience in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Attention to detail and enthusiastic.
- Competence with geotechnical software packages including Rocscience suite, proficiency in mining software packages i.e. Surpac, Deswik will be viewed favourably, but not essential.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year
