Sawmill Production Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a Sawmill Producing Manager, a visible, hands on & people focused leader who is results driven to lead the daily operations across all facets of this sawmill business. Reporting to the Director, you will be responsible for performance, planning, team leadership and continuous improvement across all operational areas of the facility. This is a leadership chance for someone who knows how to plan, prioritise and execute while motivating people and ensuring product excellence.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead day to day operations ensuring production, quality, and safety targets are met
- Build a performance focused team culture, with clear direction, coaching and development
- Plan and coordinate production schedules, staffing and production setup to meet sales requirements & delivery demands
- Oversee onsite equipment in line with safety, compliance, and drying performance targets
- Manage staff leave requirements and workforce planning to ensure adequate coverage and minimal disruption




- Liaise with suppliers to ensure critical consumables are ordered and available for uninterrupted operations
- Drive continuous improvement in process, safety and housekeeping standards
- Monitor and analyse production data and identify opportunities for operational gains
- Collaborate with maintenance, logistics and fellow senior management to support broader site outcomes

About You

You’ll bring:

- Demonstrated leadership experience in a production or manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills
- Robust attention to detail and ability to identify and solve problems early
- Experience with KPIs, continuous improvement and performance metrics
- Commitment to safety and team development
- Timber industry experience is regarded but not essential
