This position offers a full range of RACP Palliative Care Advanced Trainee terms across inpatient, community, consultation, and cancer care settings, providing comprehensive exposure to the specialty. Trainees can gain experience within our 8-bed palliative care unit at Wauchope District Hospital, a busy consultation service at Port Macquarie Base Hospital, and our community palliative care service based in Port Macquarie, which is supported by a full multidisciplinary team caring for 80 to 100 patients at any given time.

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of an Advanced Trainee in the provision of safe, appropriate, patient focused, individualised, outcome directed, coordinated quality care that meets professional standards and is based on best practice standards. To provide effective Specialist Palliative medical services to patients under supervision while developing advanced expertise in Palliative Care medicine
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
- Demonstrated ability to work with appropriate independence, commensurate with a level of a Specialist Trainee, within a supervised complex clinical environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and other members of the health care team.
- Demonstrated good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex workplace
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self education.
- Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
