Canterbury Hospital is seeking an Advanced Trainee in General Paediatrics to join our medical team for the 2027 clinical year. This opportunity will support training doctors to meet the needs of the Canterbury patient population whilst developing expertise in a complex clinical environment.

Where you'll be working
Canterbury hospital is a 215-bed metropolitan acute general hospital in the Sydney Local Health District providing services in Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, General Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care. The facility is also undergoing a $350M redevelopment for expansion of acute clinical services planned in 2027. The Canterbury area is home to a culturally and linguistically diverse community catering to patients with complex health problems and limited access to health care. Canterbury Hospital therefore offers a unique opportunity for doctors in training to develop hands-on clinical experience whilst learning in a supervised environment.

What you'll be doing

We are seeking high quality, dedicated, enthusiastic trainees to join the Canterbury Paediatric Department. Canterbury Hospital offers trainees a great learning prospect with diverse exposure to acute and complex paediatric and neonatal conditions. There is a 20 bed Paediatric Ward and 8 bed Special Care Nursery to enable you to gain both paediatric and neonatal exposure and experience.



We have a robust paediatric outpatient’s clinic providing exposure to common paediatric and developmental conditions. Canterbury is accredited for Basic training, Advanced Training and Peer Review through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

- Registered as an Advanced Trainee with the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP). Trainees who require Peer review or Top-up training through the RACP are eligible to apply.

- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and continuing professional development.

- Demonstrated interest and involvement in research.

- Minimum 3 years post-graduate with paediatric and neonatal experience.
