Your role:
Be a tradie in the Navy working as an Electronics Technician to maintain, diagnose and repair weapons systems, circuits and equipment onboard ships or submarines and ashore.
Whether you already have a trade, you're an apprentice, or you have no experience at all, we're hiring. You’ll be paid from day one to gain all the skills needed with extensive on-the-job trade training. You may also be able to use your existing qualifications and be eligible for recognition of prior learning.

Your duties include, but aren’t limited to maintaining:
- Weapons systems (guns, missiles and torpedo launchers)
- Satellite equipment (GPS, SATCOM)
- Underwater systems (SONAR, echo sounders, torpedoes)

- Communication, navigation and surveillance systems

Submariner or Nuclear Submariner:
There is also the option to specialise as an Electronics Technician Submariner or Electronics Technician Nuclear Submariner and be a part of the most exclusive and stable workforce in Australia.
Your role as a Submariner will be to ensure the submarine's torpedo-firing systems, sonars, navigation systems, periscopes and other high-tech systems are kept in peak working order onboard a submarine and ashore. As a Nuclear Submariner you’ll play an key role in the operation, maintenance and administration of nuclear propulsion plants and associated equipment.
Salary:
Competitive Salary + Generous Superannuation of 16.4%
Upon completion of your initial military and employment training, you’ll enjoy a salary package starting from $96,985 for Surface Fleet and $112,644 for Submariners, or $116,551 for Nuclear Submariners.
Period of Service requirements:
General Entry Sailor roles now have an Initial Minimum Period of Service (IMPS) between 2 and 3 years for all applicants.
Eligibility:
- For these roles, you must be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have passes in Year 10 English and Maths. For a role as a Nuclear Submariner, you must have passes in Year 12 English and Maths.

Pay: $95,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
