About the role:

The Health Promotions Officer – Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) Program is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating culturally secure health promotion initiatives that increase awareness, prevention, early detection and management of Acute Rheumatic Fever (ARF) and Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) within Aboriginal communities.

Key Responsibilities

- This role will be required to assist the Environmental Health Team by conducting home visits for educational awareness purposes.
- Develop and deliver culturally appropriate health promotion activities, campaigns and resources related to Acute Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease.
- Facilitate health education sessions for community members, schools, families and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with Aboriginal communities and key stakeholders.
- Consult with Elders, community leaders and partner organisations to ensure culturally secure program delivery.
- Assist in planning, implementing of RHD projects and activities.
- Support program reporting requirements, ensuring alignment with funding objectives.
- Monitor program outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records and activity reports.

What We're Looking for

- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent with genuine care for mob and holistic preventative health.
- Relevant qualification in Health Promotion, Public Health, Community Development, Health Sciences or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data collection/reporting systems.
- Experience developing and delivering health promotion initiatives and community education programs.
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with Aboriginal individuals, families and communities in a culturally secure manner.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop educational materials and reports.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

Pre-Requisites





- Successful Criminal Record Screening Clearance
- Valid Working with Children Check
- Current Western Australian C or C-A Class Driver's License.
- Successful Pre-Employment Health Assessment
