What the role is all about
As an Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving technical excellence and delivery success for the Polaris squad. You will lead a team of engineers to deliver squad outcomes, strengthen engineering quality, and build a healthy, high‑performing team environment.
This role combines technical leadership, people leadership and delivery leadership. In Polaris, that means leading a squad that helps REA teams operate in the cloud with better cost efficiency, stronger compliance and clearer operational guidance, while ensuring Polaris’s own systems and services are healthy, reliable and well run. Day to day the role you’ll be doing:
Delivering squad roadmap commitments and cloud engineering outcomes in a predictable, sustainable way.
Maintain high standards in engineering quality, operational excellence, systems health and engineering compliance.
Grow a high‑performing, engaged team through coaching, feedback, recruitment and clear expectations.
Lead Polaris to deliver on its mission of cost‑effective and compliant cloud operations through information, guidance and automation.
Drive meaningful progress on squad priorities such as systems handovers, right‑sizing and broader custodianship outcomes across Launchpad.
Who we’re looking for
You are an experienced engineering leader who can bring together technical credibility,
delivery discipline and people leadership. You are comfortable leading teams that own production systems and cloud services, and you know how to balance strategy with day‑to‑day execution.
You likely bring:
Experience leading and inspiring engineering teams to deliver meaningful business and platform outcomes.
Strong technical judgement across architecture, software engineering practice, operational excellence and systems thinking.
The ability to lead through ambiguity, manage competing priorities and drive continuous improvement.
Strong collaboration and influencing skills across product, design, architecture and engineering stakeholders.
A commitment to engineering quality, operational ownership, team wellbeing and growth.
A leadership style that develops people, strengthens culture and helps teams do their best work together.
