Your new company Our client is a well-established civil contractor with a strong reputation for delivering civil infrastructure, earthworks and land development projects across Tasmania and interstate. Backed by a substantial workforce and an extensive fleet of owned plant and equipment, the business continues to secure a diverse range of projects throughout the state, including the East Coast, North West and major regional centres.
Due to continued growth, an opportunity now exists for an experienced Civil Estimator to join the team and take ownership of the estimating and pre-construction function. Your new role Reporting to senior management, you will play a pivotal role in identifying opportunities, preparing estimates and managing projects from initial concept through to delivery.
This is far more than a traditional estimating position. You will be responsible for managing the entire process, from reviewing plans and developing budgets through to presenting proposals and monitoring project performance against budgets and timelines. Key responsibilities include: Preparing accurate estimates and cost plans for subdivision and civil infrastructure projects Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation Pricing and presenting project proposals to clients and stakeholders Coordinating with surveyors, engineers,
local councils and other authorities Managing multiple opportunities from enquiry through to project award Monitoring project budgets and programmes throughout delivery Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and industry stakeholders Assisting with business development activities and identifying new work opportunities Improving and maintaining estimating systems, processes and reporting tools What you'll need to succeed Previous experience estimating civil construction, subdivisions or land development projects Solid understanding of subdivision works and associated approval requirements Excellent commercial acumen and attention to detail Strong Microsoft Excel and computer literacy skills The ability to develop, implement and follow business systems and processes Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skillsA proactive and self-motivated approach with the ability to work autonomously The confidence to manage projects and opportunities from inception through to completion What you’ll get in returnA highly negotiable salary package based on experience and capability Flexibility for candidates based in Hobart or Launceston Exposure to diverse projects across Tasmania and interstate Genuine autonomy and ownership of the estimating function Long-term growth opportunities opportunities within a stable and expanding organisationA supportive and collaborative team environment
