About the Opportunity

As the Purchasing Officer for Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you’ll be responsible for coordinating sourcing and purchasing activities, managing supplier relationships, issuing purchase orders and supporting project procurement requirements to ensure materials and services are delivered efficiently and on time. Working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers, you'll contribute to effective supply chain operations while maintaining strong service, quality and cost outcomes.

What’s Involved

- Manage sourcing, purchasing and supplier coordination activities
- Obtain supplier quotes, evaluate options and issue purchase orders
- Work closely with project teams, suppliers and internal stakeholders




- Resolve invoice queries and support continuous supply chain improvement
- Maintain purchasing records and assist with supplier performance reviews

You’ll Need

Essential

- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, administration or supply chain support
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Computer literacy and systems proficiency
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Problem-solving mindset and proactive approach
- Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance

Desirable

- Certificate qualification in Purchasing, Supply Chain or related discipline
- Exposure to manufacturing, engineering or project-based environments
- Experience using Pronto
- CIPS qualifications or working towards
