Auburn Automotive Pty Ltd is a reputable automotive repair and servicing business based in Clyde, New South Wales, providing comprehensive mechanical diagnosis, servicing, preventative maintenance and repair of light motor vehicles, using modern workshop technology and manufacturer-approved repair procedures.

To support the continued growth of our workshop operations and increasing customer demand, we are seeking to appoint multiple qualified and experienced Motor Mechanics (General) to join our professional team on a full time basis. Position Overview

The Motor Mechanic (General) will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of light motor vehicles. The successful candidate will utilize specialized workshop equipment and computerized diagnostic technology to identify mechanical and electrical faults, perform complex mechanical repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry best practice while ensuring all vehicles meet safety and roadworthiness standards before being returned to customers.

This role requires a motivated automotive technician who can work independently as well as collaboratively within a busy workshop while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

- Inspect, analyse and diagnose complex mechanical, electrical and electronic faults in light motor vehicles using systematic testing procedures, specialised workshop equipment and manufacturer-approved computerised diagnostic systems.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults affecting petrol and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, steering, suspension, braking, cooling, fuel, ignition, intake, and exhaust systems.
- Dismantle, inspect, measure, repair, overhaul and reassemble engines, transmissions, driveline assemblies, steering systems, braking systems and suspension components,



ensuring all work complies with manufacturer specifications and technical tolerances.
- Repair or replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts and components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workshop procedures.
- Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and mechanical inspections, identifying developing mechanical faults and recommending corrective repairs to maximise vehicle reliability and safety.
- Verify completed repairs through systematic functional testing and quality assurance inspections prior to releasing vehicles for customer collection.
- Repair, calibrate and restore vehicle electrical and electronic systems, including engine management systems, ABS, charging systems, starting systems, ignition systems, sensors and onboard diagnostic modules following manufacturer repair procedures.
- Perform system calibration, software resets and post-repair verification procedures where required to restore manufacturer operating specifications.
- Apply manufacturer technical bulletins, service updates and repair procedures to resolve complex mechanical faults and ensure repairs comply with manufacturer specifications and current industry standards.
- Assess vehicle condition and prepare technical recommendations regarding additional mechanical repairs, component replacement or preventative maintenance requirements for customer approval through the Service Advisor.
- Conduct final inspections to verify vehicle roadworthiness, mechanical integrity and compliance with manufacturer specifications and applicable roadworthiness requirements before release to customers.
- Maintain accurate diagnostic records, repair documentation,



parts usage records and workshop management system entries to support quality assurance and service history requirements.
- Liaise with Service Advisors and Parts Department personnel to ensure repair work is completed efficiently and replacement parts are available when required.
- Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements and company policies.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, an equivalent trade qualification, or an overseas qualification assessed as comparable.
- At least one year of relevant full-time post-qualification experience as a Motor Mechanic (General) or closely related occupation.
- Demonstrated experience diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing light motor vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of petrol engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking, cooling, fuel, ignition, intake, and exhaust systems.
- Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic equipment, workshop tools, and mechanical testing devices.
- Ability to interpret manufacturer service manuals, technical drawings, and repair specifications.
- Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a professional workshop environment.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship while complying with workplace health and safety requirements.
- The position reports directly to the Workshop Manager and works collaboratively with Service Advisors, Parts Department personnel and other qualified technicians to ensure efficient workshop operations and delivery of high-quality mechanical services
