We are currently seeking applications for an experienced and motivated Principal Data Analyst, to join Digital Development Team within the Information and Technology Branch of The Department of Treasury & Finance for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension.
Remuneration: ASO7 – Salary Range (ASO7 $112,163 - $121,246 p.a.)
About the opportunity:The Principal Data Analyst is a senior role, responsible for delivering and continuously improving enterprise analytics, data engineering and business intelligence capabilities that support informed decision-making across DTF.
You will lead the design, development and optimisation of data ingestion, transformation and reporting solutions, working across a diverse range of systems and business domains. The role plays a critical part in enabling accurate, timely and trusted insights to support operations, policy, and strategic outcomes across the department.
You will be responsible for developing and supporting DTF’s Azure-based analytics ecosystem, including Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory and Power BI, while incorporating modern capabilities such as automation, artificial intelligence and governed data platforms.
Working closely with business stakeholders and subject matter experts, you will translate complex business requirements into scalable, secure and user-friendly data solutions, including enterprise data models, semantic layers and reporting products. You will also contribute to the development of agency-wide analytics strategies, governance and standards, ensuring alignment with whole-of-government requirements.
This role also provides leadership across the analytics function through mentoring, peer review and contributing to continuous improvement of data practices, tools and capabilities.The Information and Technology (I&T;) branch is at the forefront of this mission, delivering a comprehensive suite of enterprise digital services. This includes providing reliable day-to-day support as well as leading innovative and transformative initiatives that enhance data, analytics and technology capabilities across the department. Through this work, I&T; plays a key role in enabling DTF’s vision of being a world-class Treasury, supporting better outcomes for government, business and the South Australian community.
About youTo be successful you will possess:Proven ability to design and deliver enterprise data solutions,



including building and optimising data pipelines, data models and reporting platforms across complex environmentsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify insights and provide clear, evidence-based advice to business and executive stakeholdersExperience working with modern cloud data platforms, such as Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory and Power BI, or equivalent enterprise analytics technologiesAbility to translate business requirements into scalable and user-friendly solutions, working closely with stakeholders to deliver meaningful and practical outcomesStrong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate and build trusted relationships across technical and non-technical audiencesExperience applying data governance, security and quality practices, ensuring data is accurate, compliant and fit for strategic and operational useA continuous improvement and leadership mindset, including contributing to standards, mentoring others and driving uplift in data and analytics capability across the organisation

Special Conditions:Some out of hours work may be Intrastate and interstate travel may be required.The incumbent will be required to participate in the Departmental Performance Management Program.The incumbent may be required to be assigned to other positions at the same remuneration level across the department.Engagement in this role is subject to a satisfactory Department Human Services General Probity Check. A renewal will be required every three years.
