About the role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Used Car Reconditioning Technician to join the team at GWS Chadstone Pty Ltd. This is a full-time position based in Oakleigh, VIC 3166. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, and reconditioning used vehicles to ensure they meet our high standards before being offered for sale. You will play a crucial part in maintaining our reputation for quality and customer satisfaction, working with a variety of vehicle types and mechanical systems to restore them to optimal condition.

Key responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive inspections of used vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical and cosmetic issues requiring attention

- Perform routine servicing tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups and general maintenance

- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment

- Address electrical system issues and ensure all vehicle systems are functioning correctly

- Perform detailing work including cleaning, valeting and minor cosmetic repairs to vehicles

- Document all work completed on vehicles, including parts replaced and time spent on each task

- Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed at all times while working in the workshop environment

- Collaborate with the sales team to communicate vehicle condition and any outstanding work requirements

- Maintain workshop equipment and tools in good working order

What we're looking for

- Recognised automotive trade qualification in vehicle servicing and repair

- Proven experience in vehicle reconditioning or used car preparation in a similar automotive environment

- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems including engine, transmission, brakes and suspension

- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and workshop equipment commonly used in automotive servicing





- Attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship

- Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively to meet workshop schedules

- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

- Current driver's licence and the ability to operate vehicles for test driving purposes

- Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and workshop best practices
