Position Title

Centralised Intake, Assessment and Brief Intervention Specialist (Welcome Worker)

Award Category

Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS) Level 4 with above-award leave entitlements. Salary packaging available.

Employment Terms

Part-time 60 hours per fortnight. Fixed Term Contract 12 months. Hours/days negotiable.

6-month Probationary Period Applies - All Employment is subject to ongoing Funding

Specialist Homelessness Services

Yes Unlimited is the lead agent for all Specialist Homelessness Services in the Southern Murrumbidgee area and in partnership with Homes Out West,



Vinnie’s Services and VERTO Tenants Advice, provide a range of services that support people who are experiencing homelessness or are considered to be at risk of homelessness.

The Centralised Intake, Assessment and Brief Intervention Specialist

The Centralised Intake, Assessment and Brief Intervention Specialist provides a critical first point of contact for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, and people experiencing domestic and family violence within Albury and surrounding areas. Working within and across the Yes Unlimited and partner agencies teams, the Centralised Intake, Assessment and Brief Intervention Specialist provides initial assessment and triage and is responsible for initiating an appropriate response within our internal services and within the broader community resources aimed at preventing homelessness, responding to domestic and family violence, addressing housing crisis and/or facilitating access to a long-term housing solution.

What you'll be doing:

- Assess & Connect: Conduct comprehensive intake, assessment, and outreach to evaluate client housing and safety needs, grounding your approach in their personal strengths, community connections, and individual capacities.

- Provide Immediate Intervention: Offer timely, supportive brief interventions and follow-ups to help clients resolve short-term issues and navigate immediate crises.

- Create Clear Pathways: Facilitate seamless referrals into crisis/transitional accommodation, longer-term case management, and broader community resources to prevent homelessness and secure long-term housing.

- Advocate & Collaborate: Build and maintain strong referral networks and inter-agency relationships, advocating alongside clients as they navigate other professional services and systems.

- Cultivate a Safe Environment: Lead the management, layout, and atmosphere of the HUB foyer,



ensuring it reflects Yes Unlimited values and offers a calm, safe, and welcoming space for everyone who walks through the door.

- Shape Our Practice: Actively engage in the development and operationalizing of Yes Unlimited’s Model of Practice which includes Strength Based Practice, Trauma Informed Approach and the Five Foundations for Ending Homelessness

Key Selection Criteria:

Qualifications & Experience

- Have, or be working towards the completion of, a formal qualification in Social Work, Social Welfare, or related discipline and/or prior experience in working within the community sectors

- Prior experience in providing case management or crisis intervention will be a significant advantage

Skills & Knowledge

- A demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of Strengths Based and Trauma Informed principles and practice

- An understanding of the issues relating to homelessness and domestic and family violence in our local context

- Solid written and verbal communication skills

- Highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to establish rapport, engage with and motivate others

- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team toward established goals

- Sound administration skills including confidence in the use of information and communications technology

Other requirements

- Have and maintain a current driver’s licence, sound driving record and industry relevant Police check (provided) and NSW Working with Children clearance.

- Have and maintain a current First Aid Certificate.
