Do you enjoy building testing frameworks from the ground up rather than stepping into an established environment?

INIT Australia is delivering next-generation smart transport technology as part of the Opal Next Generation Program, and we're looking for an experienced Senior Test Engineer to join our growing team.

This is a genuine greenfields opportunity where you'll play a pivotal role in establishing our testing capability. Working alongside the Test Manager, you'll help build the foundations of the test function—including defining processes, implementing tools, creating documentation, designing test strategies and gaining a deep understanding of a highly integrated technology platform before large-scale testing commences.

What you'll be doing

- Partner with the Test Manager as the 2IC for the test function
- Build and establish testing processes, standards and documentation
- Configure and administer test management tools
- Develop comprehensive test plans, test scripts and test data
- Coordinate end-to-end testing across multiple integrated systems
- Execute testing across front-end, back-end and API layers
- Manage defects, participate in triage sessions and support issue resolution
- Support Business SMEs through UAT
- Produce test reporting and provide quality insights throughout the project
- Mentor junior testers as the team continues to grow

About You





You'll be an experienced Test Engineer or Senior Test Analyst who enjoys both the technical and strategic aspects of testing.

You'll ideally bring experience from one or more of the following industries:

- Systems Engineering
- Telecommunications
- Financial Services or Back Office systems
- Large enterprise integration programs

You'll also have:

- 5+ years' experience in software or systems testing
- Strong End-to-End, Integration and System Testing experience
- Excellent SQL skills with the ability to interrogate databases
- Experience performing data validation and reconciliation
- Experience testing APIs and integrated systems
- Knowledge of microservices architecture
- Experience with JIRA and modern Test Management tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills
- The confidence to step into leadership responsibilities when required

Experience with API automation would be highly regarded.
