Electrical Project Engineer – Major Water Infrastructure Project

The Opportunity

An established electrical and controls delivery contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to support a major water infrastructure program valued at approximately $1 billion.

Based between offices in Parramatta & Site (local), you will help coordinate the electrical, instrumentation and controls components of a large, technically complex infrastructure project.

This is primarily a project delivery position, rather than a pure electrical design role. You will take responsibility for program coordination, subcontractor management, procurement oversight, technical documentation and on-site delivery, while providing light design input and engineering support when required.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate electrical, instrumentation and controls packages from planning through to commissioning and handover.

- Manage project programs, schedules, milestones and short-term delivery plans.

- Monitor progress against the project schedule and identify potential delays or delivery risks.

- Coordinate electrical subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and internal project teams.

- Manage subcontractor scopes, performance, documentation and site activities.

- Support the procurement of electrical equipment, control panels, switchboards, instrumentation, cabling and associated materials.

- Prepare and review procurement packages, technical submissions, scopes of work and supplier documentation.

- Review drawings, specifications,



schematics and technical documentation.

- Provide light electrical design coordination and practical engineering input where required.

- Assist with RFIs, design clarifications, variations and technical queries.

- Coordinate cable schedules, equipment layouts, terminations and installation requirements.

- Support site installation, testing, FAT, SAT, commissioning and final handover activities.

- Prepare ITPs, inspection checklists, commissioning plans, work packs and quality documentation.

- Liaise with clients, subcontractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

- Ensure works comply with relevant Australian Standards, project specifications, safety requirements and quality systems.

- Maintain accurate project records, progress reports, procurement schedules and technical registers.

About You

You will be a practical and delivery-focused electrical professional who understands how to take an electrical package from documentation and procurement through to installation and commissioning.

You will ideally have:

- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or Electrical Trade Qualification (Working at a Supervisory level)

- Approximately five or more years of experience in electrical project engineering, design delivery or construction.





- Experience delivering electrical, instrumentation or control systems within water, wastewater, utilities, infrastructure, industrial or process environments.

- Robust program coordination and project scheduling capabilities.

- Experience managing electrical subcontractors and suppliers.

- Working knowledge of procurement, tendering, technical evaluations and equipment expediting.

- The ability to interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, cable schedules and control documentation.

- Exposure to LV distribution, switchboards, MCCs, VSDs, PLCs, instrumentation and control panels.

- Experience supporting installation, testing and commissioning activities.

- Strong written communication, reporting and stakeholder-management skills.

- A practical approach to resolving technical and delivery challenges.

- The ability to work across both office and project-site environments.
