Immediate Start | 6-Month Contract | $55 - 58 per hour + super (Casual Rate)

Our client, a progressive local government organisation, is seeking an experienced Team Leader - Collections to lead the planning, development and management of library collections across both physical and digital formats. This is an exciting opportunity for a library professional with strong collection management experience and proven leadership capability to make an immediate impact within a community-focused library service.

About the Role Reporting into the Library Leadership Team, you will be responsible for ensuring library collections remain relevant, diverse, accessible and responsive to the needs of the community.

You will lead a small team while overseeing collection strategy, acquisitions, vendor relationships, cataloguing standards and collection performance analysis.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic and operational expertise within a public library environment.
Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the development, acquisition and ongoing management of physical and digital library collections.
- Undertake collection evaluation, analysis and de-selection activities.
- Analyse collection data and provide evidence-based recommendations to support collection strategy.
- Manage collection budgets, procurement activities and funding allocations.
- Coordinate supplier relationships and contract management activities.
- Oversee cataloguing standards, stock management processes and inter-library loan services.
- Provide leadership, coaching and performance support to a small library team.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance library services, programs and community engagement initiatives.
- Ensure collections align with community needs, industry best practice and organisational objectives.

To be successful in this position, you will demonstrate:

- Experience in a senior library collections,



collections development or collection management role.
- Strong understanding of public library operations and collection management principles.
- Sound knowledge of Library Management Systems (LMS).
- Experience with cataloguing standards and collection analysis methodologies.
- Proven leadership and people management experience.
- Strong analytical, budgeting and reporting skills.
- Experience managing vendors, suppliers and procurement activities.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekend leadership coverage as part of the roster.

Work Schedule This position operates on a fortnightly rotating roster.

Week 1 & 3

- Thursday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
- Friday: 8:00am - 3:30pm
- Monday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
- Tuesday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
- Wednesday: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Total: 38.5 hours
Week 2 & 4

- Thursday: 8:00am - 12:00pm
- Sunday: 12:45pm - 4:15pm
- Monday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
- Tuesday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
- Wednesday: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Total: 31.5 hours
