An awarding winning team are opening a new bistro in Launceston and are looking for a skilled Sous Chef to support our Head Chef and help lead a small, close-knit kitchen team. Excellent opportunity for a chef ready to step into a senior role in a quality-driven, seasonal, produce-focused kitchen.

About the role
Support the Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations and service
Step up to run the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
Assist with menu development, dish costing, and seasonal specials
Supervise and mentor junior chefs, ensuring consistency across sections
Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier coordination as needed
Maintain food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards throughout the kitchen
Help maintain quality and consistency across à la carte service and private functions

What we're looking for
Proven experience as a Sous Chef
Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery
Strong section management and leadership skills
Solid understanding of food costing, stock control, and kitchen compliance
Current RSA and Food Safety Supervisor certificate




Sound knowledge of HACCP and WHS requirements
A reliable, calm presence able to run a section or a service independently
Passion for seasonal, produce-driven cooking and high standards of hospitality
