cmr has partnered with a leading health service to engange an experienced Men’s Counsellor for the following full time permanant or 12-month contract, based in the East Arnhem reigon.

About the Role

As the Men’s Counsellor, you will provide therapeutic support through individual, family and group counselling. Referrals may involve short-term or ongoing engagement, with each person’s choice and readiness for counselling always respected.

This role is best suited to a Counsellor with expeirence working in remote Aboriginal communities.

What You’ll Be Doing
Provide culturally secure counselling to men, young men and boys.
Respond to referrals for individual, family and group therapeutic support.
Build respectful therapeutic relationships based on trust and collaboration.
Facilitate men’s wellbeing groups addressing issues such as: violence and anger, coercive control, alcohol and other drugs, accountability for harmful behaviour, respectful relationships and positive pathways for healing
Support clients to strengthen family, community and cultural support networks.




Assist clients to navigate services and advocate for their goals and preferences.
Maintain accurate, confidential and respectful client records.

About You
Tertiary qualification in Counselling or a related human services discipline.
Current registration, or eligibility for registration, with a recognised professional body.
National Criminal History Check.
Experience working in a remote Aboriginal community.
Understanding of Aboriginal Community Control, self-determination and culturally protected practice.
Understanding of Social and Emotional Wellbeing, colonisation and intergenerational trauma.
