ISS is seeking an experienced and motivated Head Chef to lead our fast-paced kitchen operations within our Mining Villages across Central Queensland.
Working on either a 9 days on / 5 days off or 2 weeks on / 1 week off roster, you'll enjoy a rewarding career while maintaining valuable time away from work, helping you adopt work-life balance.
Reporting to the Village Manager, you'll lead the delivery of high-quality catering services in a energetic remote mining environment.
You'll oversee kitchen operations, inspire your team, and ensure residents enjoy exceptional dining experiences every day.

As Head Chef, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day kitchen operation, leading a team of qualified chefs and catering staff to consistently deliver fresh, nutritious, and high-quality meals.
In this role, you will:
Lead and coordinate daily kitchen operations to ensure efficient, high-quality food service.
Prepare and present exceptional meals with consistency, creativity, and attention to detail.
Champion food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards across the kitchen.
Manage stock levels, ordering, inventory control, and minimise food waste.
Oversee menu execution and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Mentor, coach, and develop kitchen team members, fostering a positive and collaborative culture.
Work closely with the Village Manager and wider site team to deliver an outstanding dining experience for residents.
To be considered, you need:




Proven professional work experience as qualified chef (minimum 2–3 years).
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery recognised in Australia (or higher)
Food Safety Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
FIFO experience in a high-volume kitchen environment (desirable).
Strong teamwork, communication skills, and ability to work under pressure.
Knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and WHS requirements.
Must pass a full Pre-Employment Medical Assessment and Drug & Alcohol Screen.
Current Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 Certificate (highly desirable).
Valid National Police Clearance within the last 12 months.
