About the Role
As a Financial system accountant, you will play a key role in continually reviewing and delivering the effective administration, optimisation, and continuous improvement of Council's financial systems (e.g. TechnologyOne).
The Financial Systems Accountant will enable the accurate reporting, efficient processes, and informed decision-making across the Shire.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Services the core responsibilities include:
Financial Systems Management
Maintain and optimise the organisation's financial systems (e.g. TechnologyOne), ensuring system integrity, reliability, and alignment with business needs.
Financial Systems/Process Improvement & Automation
Provide expert advice and support to identify, design, and implement process improvements and automation opportunities including managing updates and upgrades and new features to enhance efficiency, data accuracy, and user experience across finance functions.
Data Integrity & Reporting
Develop reports to enable the Finance & Procurement unit to deliver data needs to the organisation.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, including chart of accounts and system configurations, while supporting the delivery of timely and insightful financial and management reports.
Stakeholder Support & Training
Provide expert system support, training, and guidance to finance and non-finance users, translating business requirements into practical system solutions and improving overall capability.
About You
Education & Experience– Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline,
with demonstrated experience in financial systems administration (preferably within a local government or public sector environment).
CPA/CA qualification or working towards is desirable.
Written & Oral Communication– Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, user-friendly guidance, and effectively engage with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
Technical & Systems Expertise– Experience with ERP systems (ideally TechnologyOne), advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with reporting.
Proven ability in system configuration, report development, and process mapping.
Analytical & Problem Solving– Well-developed analytical skills with a strong attention to detail, and the ability to diagnose issues, interpret business needs, and deliver practical, effective solutions.
