About us
Western Plains Correctional Centre is a modern, maximum-security prison focussed on rehabilitation, housing up to **** people in custody.
Western Plains features multi-purpose infrastructure which is adaptable to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria and the people in our care.
Modern amenities include medical wards, a cultural centre, and vocational training facilities.
Western Plains provides a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to individualised care which motivates, encourages and promotes reintegration into the community.
Western Plains has advanced technology which improves security, streamlines operations and enhances connections for the people in our care.
What you will do
As diversity officer, you will support people in care from diverse backgrounds and help them access the services they need.
You will promote inclusion, support rehabilitation and help build respectful practices across the correctional centre.
You will:
providedirectsupport and advocacy for people fromdiversecultural, faith and LGBTIQ+ communities
coordinateresponsiveprograms, services, events and resources that meet individual needs
supportcase managers withpracticaladvice on diversity-related matters and case planning
deliverspecialisttraining that helps create arespectfulandinclusiveenvironment
buildstrongworking relationships with community groups and contribute to policies that improve support for people in care.
About you
Relevant training, certification or a qualification is desirable.




Experience supporting diverse communities in rehabilitation or social services will be highly regarded.
You should also have:
provenexperience working withmulticultural,multi-faithandLGBTIQ+communities
strongunderstanding of the needs ofdiverseand marginalised people and available support services
clearcommunication skills and the ability to buildrespectfulrelationships with others
soundproblem-solving skills and a commitment toinclusiveandfairservices.
