We're currently seeking enthusiastic Swim Instructors to join our team at the Kiama Leisure Centre, helping our community build confidence, skills, and lifelong water safety habits
Key responsibilities as a Swim Instructor...
Deliver engaging lessons across a range of ages and abilities
Bring established programs to life with energy and care
Track and celebrate student progress
Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Help create a safe, fun, and inclusive aquatic environment
What we offer...
Casual hours – perfect for students, parents, or anyone wanting work-life balance
Hourly base pay rate up to $***** inclusive of 25% casual loading
Note: base rate is dependent on your experience working in a similar role
Plus applicable penalties in accordance with the Award, including penalty rates for weekend work
12% superannuation

Our lessons run at the times below which is when we require coverage from our Swim Instructors:
Weekdays - 3:30pm – 6:30pm
Saturdays - 8:00am – 11:30am
If you have yourInfant & Preschool Aquaticscertificate, you may be offered to work shifts from 8:30am – 11:30am on weekdays.
What you'll need to be successful in the role...
You'll need robust communication skills, a genuine passion for teaching and a team-focused attitude
along with:
A currentTeacher of Swimming and Water Safety Certificate(e.g. AUSTSWIM)
A current CPR certificate
The ability and willingness to completeInfant & Preschool Aquatics (INF)within three months
At least20 hours' experience teaching swimming to children
An understanding of the principles of child learning
The ability to instruct water survival techniques
The ability to work effectively as part of a team
Although not required, it would be highly regarded to have:
Additional AUSTSWIM qualifications
Experience adapting to varying class formats and group sizes
Teacher of Aquatics – Access and Inclusion (TAI).
Pre-Employment Requirements...
This is a child-related position.
You will be required to provide Council with your valid and current Working with Children Check (WWCC) number as a condition of your employment.
In addition, your employment will be subject to a National Criminal Record Check and Pre-employment medical to determine your suitability for employment.
