Family Intervention Support Worker - Fulltime
Community Gro Inc. is seeking a passionate and innovative Family Support Worker for the Townsville Tertiary Family Intervention Service working full time commencing July **** through to September **** (Contract Position), working from our Upper Ross Site.
The Tertiary Family Intervention Service is a pivotal component of Community Gro's commitment to improving the health and development of families and children.
The program has a child protection purpose and focuses primarily on the care and protection of vulnerable children and young people.
The program works with families experiencing vulnerability to strengthen their capability, parenting skills, and resilience to prevent problems from developing or escalating to crisis point in order to avoid entry into the statutory system or when exiting from the statutory system.
Linking to Schools Family Support Worker - Part Time
Community Gro Inc. is seeking a proactive and creative Family Support Worker for the Linking to Schools Program working Part Time four days a week commencing July **** through to March **** (Contract Position), working from our Garbutt site.
The linking to schools program focuses on improving the engagement and attendance of Children aged 5-12 years in the Townsville West area (Garbutt, Aitkenvale, Heatley, West End, Currajong,



Gulliver and Vincent).
The program supports families to work on the issues resulting in a lack of engagement, attendance at school, with the result to re-enter school and engage consistently in the school community.
Focusing on supporting families to reduce the barriers to attendance at school and support a relationship with the school community.
By participating in this initiative, you will contribute to Community Gro's vision and values while positively impacting families' lives.
The Family Support Worker role will be required to work occasional weekdays after hours and Saturdays.
Travel to outreach locations will be necessary.

The tasks of the role include:
Plan, coordinate, and facilitate engaging sessions that promote family bonding, child development, social interaction, physical activities, creativity, and healthy eating.
Participate in case planning and case plan reviews.
Develop the practical skills of parents to care for their child, improve the safety of the family home environment and strengthen the attachment between parent and child/ren within a strengths-based and evidence-informed practice framework.
Provide personalised support to families, identifying and addressing their unique needs and challenges, and fostering positive parenting practices.




Establish rapport with families, create a safe and welcoming environment, and encourage active participation in program activities.
Collaboratively identify the family challenges, strengths, and goals.
Gather and enter clear and concise relevant data related to client program participation, outcomes, and impact in accordance with reporting requirements.
The essential licenses, skills and experience for the role are:
Must have a 'C' class driver's license.
Must have demonstrated successful experience in program delivery with a specific focus on family support.
Well-developed verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and community groups, work successfully in a small team, and maintain broad professional networks.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office 365 programs, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
Capacity to work in a highly functional team environment.
The desirable qualifications and skills for the role are:
Tertiary experience in a relevant field such as social work, community development, public health, education, or a related discipline is preferred.
Must have a Working with Children (Blue Card).
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are encouraged to apply.
