ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly capableSenior Operations Managerto lead our waste collections team in Mackay.

We're looking for a strong people leader to support our operations in the area drive performance, culture, and continuous improvement.

This role will report to the Branch Manager and lead/support 4 x Operations Managers, across 3 sites.
You'll bring urgency, confidence, and a customer-first mindset.
You'll understand the bigger picture, set clear objectives and guide the team to deliver outstanding results every day.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the operations management team for the commercial and domestic waste collections in the region, plus bio-security facility in Hay Point
The ability to plan for growth, engage with the team and see it through
Deliver the overall operations strategy and drive ongoing improvement initiatives
Drive a high-level safety, compliance and customer service culture
Support and motivate a team of approximately 70 employees - across 3 sites
Work well with other leaders within the business including workshop, administration and corporate head office
Ensure compliance with all policies, legal and regulatory requirements
Get behind the wheel- drive/operate our fleet on a regular basis
Remain actively involved in the day-to-day operations and lead by example

Analytical and highly organised
Previous leadership experience within transport, logistics or a similar operational environment
Hold a currentHR licence,(HC or MC highly regarded) plus minimum of 12 months driving experience
Happy toroll your sleeves upand spend time out on site with the team
Be an approachable, authentic, supportive and empathetic leader
Continuous improvement focused; with the ability to deliver short and long term
KPI focused with the ability to perform under pressure
