About The OpportunityBusiness Review Group is seeking experienced Defence Commercial Specialists to support theGuided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Manufacturing Division.
This opportunity supports the Australian Government'sDefence Strategic Review ****, which committed to developing Australian Defence Force and industry capability for the manufacture of Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance within Australia.
As part of this initiative, Defence established theGuided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Groupand appointed theChief of Guided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance (CGWEO)to lead strategy, capability development, acquisition, domestic production and sustainment across Defence's GWEO capability.
Working within the GWEO Commercial Team, you will provide commercial, procurement and contract management services supporting capability acquisition and sustainment programs across multiple Defence domains.
Key Responsibilities
The Commercial Specialist will support Defence procurement and contract management activities through:
Procurement
Supporting the delivery of complex procurement activities.
Developing commercial and procurement strategies.
Preparing procurement documentation.
Developing Endorsements to Proceed for Commonwealth approval.
Preparing Request for Tender (RFT) documentation.
Developing Tender Evaluation Plans.
Preparing Tender Evaluation Reports.
Conducting liability and commercial risk assessments.
Developing and managing procurement schedules.
Contract Management




Processing contract changes.
Reviewing contractor deliverables.
Monitoring contractor performance.
Assisting the Commonwealth during negotiations with prime contractors.
Developing delegate approval documentation.
Preparing Contract Management Plans.
Commercial Support
Providing accurate and timely commercial advice to delegates and stakeholders.
Ensuring compliance with Defence procurement policies and governance.
Identifying and managing commercial risks.
Preparing briefs, approval submissions and reports.
Coordinating project representation at key contract meetings.
Essential Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate:
Minimum 8 years' Defence experience.
Demonstrated experience in Defence commercial and procurement.
Experience supporting Defence acquisition and/or sustainment activities.
Robust stakeholder management and engagement skills.
Experience using the ASDEFCON document suite.
Knowledge of Defence Writing Standards.
Knowledge of Defence internal processes and governance.
Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively within a team while exercising sound judgement and working with minimal supervision.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience delivering Defence commercial and procurement outcomes within complex acquisition or sustainment environments.
They will be confident preparing procurement documentation, supporting ASDEFCON contract management activities, engaging with diverse stakeholders and ensuring compliance with Defence procurement frameworks.
