Machine Operator - Reinforcing Steel

Mesh & Bar is a national leader in reinforcing with an expanded site in Salisbury South, South Australia.
With a strong commitment to quality and safety, we manufacture essential steel products for a wide range of construction projects across the region.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced machine operator and loader to join our team for day shift 6:00am to 2:06pm.
About the Role:
As a machine operator you will play a crucial role in the efficient and safe manufacture of reinforcing steel products.
You will be responsible for manufacture, loading and unloading trucks, managing inventory, and supporting general yard operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Operating overhead cranes: safely and efficiently operating overhead cranes for loading and unloading
Manufacturing product within specification and guidelines to our internal SOP's
Bundling and strapping: Preparing reinforcing steel bundles for transport, including strapping and securing loads to ensure safe delivery.
Quality Control: Conducting visual inspections of incoming and outgoing materials to ensure quality standards are met.
General Yard Duties:



Maintaining a clean and organised work environment, assisting with general housekeeping, and undertaking other tasks as required to support the production and dispatch teams.
Safety Compliance: Adhering strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and participating in safety briefings.
Team Collaboration: Working effectively as part of a team to achieve daily production and dispatch targets.
Skills and Experience Required:
Preferred: Experience operating overhead cranes in a manufacturing or similar industrial workplace.
Preferred:Current Forklift License with demonstrated experience operating various types of forklifts.
Prior experience in a steel processing, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment is highly regarded.
Strong understanding of safe lifting and loading practices.
Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual handling tasks.
Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
