Lead the next stage of growth for one of Australia's most innovative manufacturing businesses
RubberGem is an Australian advanced manufacturing company transforming end-of-life conveyor belts and tyres into high-value engineered rubber products through proprietary technology.
Over the past 24 years, we have grown from a small entrepreneurial business into a purpose-built manufacturing operation, backed by significant investment in automation, advanced equipment and future expansion.
We are now focused on operational excellence and sustainable growth.
This is not a corporate management role.
It is an opportunity to lead a growing manufacturing business of approximately 100 employees operating in a 24/7 environment, where your leadership will have a direct impact on business performance.
The ideal candidate has successfully led a manufacturing or industrial business of similar size and complexity.
You will report directly to the Founder & Managing Director, allowing the Founder to focus on innovation, technology, major customers and long-term strategy while you take ownership of the day-to-day leadership of the business.
About the Role:
As General Manager, you will be accountable for the overall performance of the business.
You will lead the management team and ensure every department operates safely, efficiently and collaboratively while delivering the company's strategic objectives.
Your role is to create a business that performs consistently through strong leadership, capable people, effective systems and clear accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for:
Leading all day-to-day business operations.
Developing and mentoring the management team.
Building management systems that improve accountability and performance.
Driving continuous improvement across all departments.
Ensuring solid operational execution and financial performance.
Delivering business objectives and budgets.
Building a solid culture focused on safety, quality and professionalism.

Ensuring departments work together to achieve company goals.
Providing regular reporting and recommendations to the Founder & Managing Director.
Leading strategic initiatives and business improvement projects.
About You:
To succeed in this role you will have:
Proven experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager or senior executive within a manufacturing environment.
A demonstrated ability to build systems, processes and management disciplines in a growing business.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop managers.
Demonstrated experience leading multiple functions, including operations, finance, sales, and people management.
Strong commercial and financial acumen.
Strong communication skills with the ability to make effective decisions.
A practical, hands-on leadership style.
A continuous improvement mindset.
The ability to remain calm under pressure while making sound business decisions.
Experience in rubber, plastics, heavy manufacturing or industrial processing will be highly regarded but is not essential.
What Success Looks Like:
Within your first 12 months you will have:
Built a high-performing management team.
Established clear accountability throughout the business.
Improved operational performance and reliability.
Strengthened business systems and reporting.
Enhanced safety, quality and production performance.
Created a business that operates with discipline, consistency and professionalism.
Why Join RubberGem?
This is a rare opportunity to take a leadership role in a growing Australian manufacturing business where your impact will be visible across every part of the operation.
You won't be walking into a mature organisation where everything is already established.
Instead, you'll play a key role in building the management systems, leadership capability and operational excellence that will support the company's long-term growth.
If you enjoy developing people, improving performance and building high-performing organisations, we'd like to hear from you.
Please apply throughSEEKwith your resume and cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.
