This unique opportunity will see you lead Logan City Council's strategic advocacy and intergovernmental engagement to secure policy, funding and partnership outcomes that will shape our city's future.
Reporting to the General Manager Transform Logan and Advocacy, this role will deliver an advocacy agenda that strategically prioritises initiatives based on evidence, investment ready proposals which are coordinated across the organisation, and aligned with Logan ****.
Transform Logan is a program of work progressing Council's 50-year vision (Logan ****), guiding growth, investment and community outcomes for generations to come.
About the role
In this role you will:
Lead the development and execution of Council's Advocacy Plan, aligning advocacy priorities with Logan ****.
Develop innovative and contemporary advocacy approaches that position Logan locally and regionally to secure significant projects for government, business and community support and funding.
Proactively influence policy and investment decisions to advance the interests of the City of Logan
Monitor the political, policy and funding landscape to identify emerging risks, opportunities and shifts that affect Logan
Lead, develop and manage the advocacy team supporting the delivery of the advocacy program
Build, maintain and influence highly effective relationships with state and federal government partners, industries and for peak bodies such as the Council of Mayors (SEQ) and Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ)
About You
A highly experienced leader with a track record in advocacy, developing strategic pathways which leverage all levels of government,



commercial and community opportunities to achieve best practice outcomes Proven ability leading and managing a team that deliver strategic outcomes, including building capacity, driving performance and fostering a collaborative, outcomes focused culture
Proven track record building and maintaining strategic stakeholder networks with senior government officers, peak bodies, industry groups and community organisations.
Exceptional written and verbal communication ability including for written submissions, briefing papers, reports and presentations to executive and political audiences
Highly developed analytical skills which form the basis for compelling evidence-based narratives to identify risks, trends and inform strategic decision making
Highly developed ability to collaborate across organisation on shared priorities, align effort and integrate subject matter expertise into compelling advocacy positions.
Key Indicators for Success
Qualifications in public policy, political science, communications or a related discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Significant experience in advocacy, government relations or intergovernmental affairs with a track record of influencing policy and investment across multiple levels of government.
