As our business continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated and organised Procurement Officer to support our purchasing operations and ensure the timely sourcing of quality products and supplies essential to our business.
KEY TASKS
Manage the end-to-end purchasing process, from sourcing through to purchase order and invoice processing.
Collect, analyse and interpret supplier, pricing and market information to support procurement planning, supplier selection and purchasing decisions.
Evaluate supplier capability, product quality, pricing structures, delivery performance and compliance with business requirements to assist management in selecting suitable suppliers.
Monitor procurement activities and supplier performance using procurement data and key performance indicators, and prepare analytical reports with recommendations for continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain procurement policies, supplier evaluation criteria and standard operating procedures to promote consistency, transparency and compliance throughout procurement activities.
Conduct market research on seafood products, packaging materials, operational supplies and industry trends to identify supply risks, alternative sourcing opportunities and cost efficiencies.
Coordinate with management and wholesale operations to analyse procurement requirements and develop purchasing plans that support business demand and operational continuity.
Prepare procurement reports, expenditure analyses, supplier performance reviews and purchasing forecasts to assist management with budgeting, procurement planning and strategic decision-making.
Liaise with suppliers to negotiate commercial arrangements, service expectations and supply agreements while maintaining effective professional relationships.
Ensure procurement documentation, supplier records and purchasing processes comply with company policies,
food safety requirements and relevant Australian legislative and regulatory obligations.
Provide advice to management regarding procurement strategies, supplier risk management and information-based purchasing decisions to support business objectives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
At least an AQF Bachelor's degree or a higher qualification in business, procurement, or a related field.
At least 1 year of relevant full-time professional experience in procurement, contract administration, supplier/vendor management, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of purchasing processes, contracts, and commercial pricing.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Well-developed organisational and time management skills.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining procurement records, preparing reports and managing purchasing documentation.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Understanding of food safety, quality assurance and regulatory compliance relevant to the food, seafood or retail industry will be highly regarded.
