Role details
The Child and Adolescent Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse (Paediatric Outpatient Department) to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your prospect
Clinical Nurse Paediatric Outpatient Department co-ordinates paediatric clinics, outreach clinics, overviews wait lists, referrals, while liaising with Reception staff, Medical officers, Allied Health staff and other nursing staff. This position works autonomously under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager.
The Clinical Nurse (CN) provides nursing services within the health service settings; and is responsible for a portfolio with a focus on clinical care/leadership, management, education and/or research. The activities are predominantly clinical in nature but also provide support to a Nurse Grade 7 or above in management activities. The CN provides advanced level clinical skills to ensure patient-focused evidence-based nursing care, plans and coordinates the clinical management of patient/client care and provides leadership and support to other nursing staff.
About the Team
The Child and Adolescent Unit comprise of a 12-bed inpatient paediatric ward, paediatric outpatient clinic and paediatric ambulatory care unit. The Ambulatory Care Unit comprises Diabetes Educator Clinical Nurse, Chronic Illness Clinical Nurse and Paediatric Outreach Clinical Nurse,
also Clinical Nurse Consultant Paediatric Haematology/Oncology Case Manager.
The Child & Adolescent Unit caters for children with medical, surgical, orthopaedic, mental health and oncology conditions from 3 days to 15 years. This Unit liaises closely with the district rural facilities, acting as the referral centre for their patients and has tertiary referral to Townsville, Queensland Children's Hospital and Mater Children's Hospitals in Brisbane.

Outpatient rooms are currently shared with Women's Health Unit
5 General consultation rooms
Telehealth room, doubles as a consultation room as required
1 Treatment room /consultation/procedure room.
1 Clinical coordinator consult room
There is one reception/administration desk divided into two, to service both Children's and Women's Speciality clinics.
The Paediatric clinic services infants, children and adolescents 0-15 years of age across the whole spectrum of paediatric health. The clinic also has a Rapid Access Clinic visiting specialists from Queensland Children's Hospital and The Townsville University Hospital as outreach clinics and via telehealth. Provide skin allergy Testing and ENT clinics via Telehealth.
