About the role
Based on site at PCWI, this role is an chance for a practical and detail-focused Laboratory Manager to lead the day-to-day coordination of our laboratory services.
This hands-on technical role is responsible for laboratory workflow planning, service delivery performance, technical quality and continuous improvement across calibration, certification, servicing and manufacture of specialist protective coating inspection equipment and reference standards.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely and compliant service outcomes for customers, while helping strengthen laboratory systems, work instructions, digital processes and service capability.
What you will do
Plan and prioritise laboratory workload to meet customer service and turnaround time objectives.
Perform and oversee calibration, certification, servicing and troubleshooting of inspection and test equipment.
Manufacture and calibrate coating thickness standards and support PCWI manufactured product certification.
Maintain laboratory equipment, reference standards, consumables, records, work instructions and procedures.
Support quality and accreditation activities, including preparation for NATA and PCCP endorsement.
Drive improvements to laboratory workflows, reporting, software platforms and service visibility.
Work closely with sales, workshop, production, warehouse, purchasing, suppliers and customers to deliver high-quality technical service outcomes.
About you
Experience in a technical, laboratory, calibration, quality, manufacturing or service environment.
Strong attention to detail and confidence following documented procedures accurately.




Practical problem-solving skills and confidence working hands-on with technical equipment.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet customer and business needs.
Clear and professional communication skills across phone, email and written documentation.
Competence using Microsoft 365 and business software systems, with the ability to learn new products and processes quickly.
Desirable experience
Protective coatings, coating inspection, NDT, metrology or test equipment experience.
Knowledge of ISO ****, ISO *****, PCCP, NATA or similar quality/accreditation environments.
Understanding of measurement uncertainty, traceability, calibration certificates and test method documentation.
TAFE or similar qualification in Laboratory Technology, Laboratory Skills, Laboratory Techniques, metrology, quality, engineering or a related technical field.
Experience improving laboratory, manufacturing or service workflows.
