About the Opportunity
We're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our finance team at RJE Global. In this role, you'll support core financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and statutory reporting and compliance. You'll work alongside an experienced finance team who will support your development, helping you build your skills and grow into the role.
This is an excellent prospect for someone with a solid accounting or bookkeeping foundation who is looking to deepen their experience within a well-established and growing organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end weekly payment run, ensuring timely and accurate supplier payments.
Perform bank reconciliations and investigate unreconciled transactions.
Reconcile high-volume supplier statements and resolve discrepancies with vendors and internal stakeholders.
Monitor payment exceptions and resolve issues to ensure on-time supplier payments.
Support month-end and year-end close processes by preparing and completing account reconciliations.
Identify and investigate financial discrepancies, implementing corrective actions where required.
Assist with internal and external audits by preparing reconciliation workpapers and supporting documentation.
Provide general finance and administrative support to the wider finance team.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline finance processes and enhance controls.
What You'll Bring
Experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable, including high-volume invoice processing.
Sound understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles and general ledger accounting.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar) and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data entry and account reconciliations.
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine willingness to learn and develop.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (or currently working towards completion).
1–3 years' experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or finance support role. Experience within the construction, engineering, or project-based industries will be highly regarded.
Working towards or holding CA or CPA membership (or an intention to commence) is desirable, but not essential.
