Clerk 9/10, salary relative to experience, and ranges from $133,348 - $146,945 + super.
About the role
As a Senior Coordination Officer, you'll work in partnership with local government, communities and key stakeholders to deliver strategic programs, build capability and drive outcomes that improve disaster readiness, recovery and long-term resilience across NSW.
This is a senior, highly collaborative role that combines project leadership, stakeholder engagement and regional coordination to support communities before, during and after disasters.
As the Senior Coordination Officer, you will:
Lead the development, coordination and delivery of projects and initiatives that strengthen local government capability and improve disaster preparedness, mitigation, adaptation and recovery outcomes.
Drive key regional programs, including community preparedness and local government uplift initiatives, ensuring alignment with whole-of-government priorities.
Partner with councils, government agencies, community organisations, industry and not-for-profit stakeholders to deliver practical and sustainable outcomes.
Coordinate information flows, resources and stakeholder engagement activities to support community participation in disaster planning and resilience initiatives.
Provide regional intelligence and local insights to inform policy development, program design and implementation.
Support communities through disaster recovery processes, including rebuilding and relocation initiatives, ensuring programs remain responsive to local needs.
Administer grants and funding programs, ensuring resources and benefits are effectively delivered to disaster-affected communities.
Identify and embed best practices that strengthen community engagement capability, systems and processes across the region.
Lead consultation and knowledge-sharing activities with stakeholders to understand community needs, capability and capacity to respond to and recover from disasters.
Prepare high-quality correspondence, ministerial briefs, reports, publications and other strategic documentation.
Represent the agency at key committees, forums and meetings, building strong partnerships and fostering collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups.




Contribute to operational readiness and support disaster response and recovery activities as required.
About You
You are an experienced project and stakeholder engagement professional who can lead complex initiatives, build trusted relationships and deliver outcomes in environments with competing priorities.
To excel in this role, you will have:
Demonstrated experience leading and delivering complex programs, projects or government initiatives, ideally within emergency management, resilience, recovery or community-focused environments.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, resources and stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with local government, communities, government agencies and industry partners.
Exceptional communication and consultation skills, with experience influencing, negotiating and achieving consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
Experience preparing high-quality reports, briefings, correspondence and other strategic documentation for senior leaders and government stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical advice and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Ability to apply sound judgement and work effectively in complex, fast-paced and evolving environments.
A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to mentor others, share knowledge and contribute positively to team capability.
Understanding of, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, disaster management, community resilience and emergency management frameworks.
An ability and willingness to travel within NSW supporting operational roles following disasters.
Current unrestricted NSW drivers' licence.

Tertiary qualification and/or relevant knowledge and experience
