Role Overview
Queensland Treasury Corporation (QTC) Advisory is trusted by government to deliver independent, commercially grounded advice on some of Queensland's most significant public sector challenges.
We are seeking an experienced Principal – Local Government Projects & Advisory to play a key within our Advisory Division.
This is an prospect for a consultant who is passionate about asset management, infrastructure planning and public value, and who thrives in a role leading projects.
Reporting to Director, Local Government as Principal, you will lead high impact advisory projects across the local government, university and broader Queensland public sector.
You will bring deep expertise in asset management and capital planning, and act as a trusted advisor to clients navigating complex financial, infrastructure and policy decisions.
You will also play a critical role in mentoring and developing our advisory talent, sharing your expertise across the division and contributing to business initiatives.
Responsibilities
Lead complex advisory projects for local governments, universities and state government clients
Support the development of new opportunities across the local government and university sectors
Provide independent, strategic advice on complex and sensitive financial, asset and operational matters
Act as a technical leader in asset management, asset accounting, capital planning and infrastructure decision-making
Develop, mentor and coach team members, building capability across QTC's local government advisory teams
Contribute to divisional projects where your expertise can add value
Proactively identify and manage risks associated with projects, clients and delivery
Qualifications
Significant sector experience in local government and/or public sector advisory
Strong expertise in asset management, asset accounting, financial advisory and capital planning
Demonstrated ability to improve systems, processes and standards
Recognised capability to deliver innovative solutions through collaboration and expert dialogue
Robust understanding of leading practices in infrastructure and capital investment decision-making
Ability to analyse multi-dimensional problems and deliver practical, considered solutions
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to tailor messages to diverse stakeholders
Proven ability to influence without authority and build trusted relationships
A genuine interest in coaching, mentoring and developing others
Minimum 8 years' relevant experience, with deep industry knowledge and leadership experience in complex public or corporate environments
