About the Role
The Radiation Protection Officer works in partnership with industry, across government and with the community and ensures that radiation exposures, primarily from medical, scientific, industrial uses of radiation sources, are managed in accordance with the Radiation Protection and Control Act **** and its Regulations, and appropriate international and national Standards, Codes of Practice and Guidelines.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Proven knowledge of radiation physics, biological effects of radiation, radiation protection legislation, and Australian or international Codes of Practice Standards for radiation protection and safety in medicine, industry and science.
Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of people including government, medical, scientific and industry representatives and with the public.
Proven ability to plan and schedule work activities to meet deadlines, including project planning, delivery and reporting, with limited or no professional supervision.
Proven ability to undertake complex tasks, resolve problems and also achieve broad program outcomes with a high level of initiative and competence, with limited or no professional supervision.
Proven ability to learn, develop and improve new and existing practices in regulation, technical aspects of operations and stakeholder management.
Proven ability to relate well to persons at all levels in medical, scientific, industrial and Government organisations and to other members of the Branch and the public, and to work efficiently and harmoniously and contribute ideas in a team environment.

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge or Experience
A relevant degree in medical radiations, physics, engineering or related discipline.
Desirable Qualifications, Knowledge or Experience
Proven experience in radiation measurements, quality assurance testing of medical diagnostic X-ray or radiation therapy imaging equipment, and providing radiation protection and safety advice to dental and medical practices, government and the community, or relevant experience that can be readily applied or translated to gain the aforementioned experience.
Remuneration
PO2($91,565 - $106,074) + 12% super added to your choice of super fund.
Contract
Term contract (until 20 March ****) and full time (37.5 hours per week).
Special Conditions
This role has been designated as a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework.
A current National Police Clearance is essential.
The incumbent will occasionally be required to travel to sites in country areas and interstate.
The incumbent may be required to work out of hours and as the need arises.
A current driver's licence is essential.
