We are currently seeking a part-time Dental Assistant to join our team at Oakey Health Centre, working Monday to Wednesday. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality dental services supporting Australian Defence Force personnel.
About Us
Serco Australia, in partnership with Bupa, delivers integrated healthcare services to the Australian Defence Force across Australia. We provide defence-ready clinical and support staff across 50+ on-base locations nationally, ensuring ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care.
About the Location – Oakey Health Centre
Oakey Health Centre is located at the Army Aviation Centre (AAC), approximately 3km outside Oakey. Australian Army Aviation conducts its aviation training at the centre, which is also home to 126 Squadron (Cougar helicopters) of the Republic of Singapore Air Force.
With approximately 500 members supported on base, the health centre delivers primary medical, aviation medical, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, pharmaceutical and mental health services. It also plays a key role in emergency response to the AAC.
Health centre staff may be required to work across Cabarlah and Oakey locations. Standard operating hours are generally ********* Monday to Friday.
About the Role
As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with Dentists, Dental Specialists and Dental Hygienists to support the efficient delivery of dental services in accordance with Defence policies and national standards.
Assist Dentists,
Dental Specialists and Dental Hygienists during procedures
Promote oral health to patients (where qualified and at the request of a Dentist/Dental Hygienist)
Implement infection control procedures within the dental surgery in accordance with National Standards and Defence policies
Reprocess dental instruments and equipment in line with National Standards and Defence requirements
Pour dental models as directed (where trained)
Manage patients in accordance with approved clinical protocols
Maintain optimal hygiene and cleanliness of the dental surgery
Manage patient clinical records, including electronic documentation and filing
Book and manage patient recalls
You will contribute to a safe, compliant and patient-focused environment that supports the operational readiness of Defence personnel.
About You
You are a proactive and reliable Dental Assistant who enjoys working in a collaborative clinical environment and maintaining high standards of patient care and infection control.
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
Minumim 2 years experience as a Dental Assistant within the last 5 years
Certificate III in Dental Assisting or nationally recognised equivalent qualification
Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
A high level of attention to detail and commitment to infection control standards
The ability to manage time effectively in a structured environment
Be an Australian Citizen to obtain an Australian Baseline Security Clearance
