The Opportunity
Like working with your hands and want to learn how custom kitchens, bathrooms and wardrobes are made?
CCGT is looking for a 1st Year Apprentice Cabinetmaker to join a family-owned cabinetmaking business based in Gosford.
No previous cabinetmaking experience is needed. You just need to be reliable, practical and ready to learn.
You will be employed by Central Coast Group Training (CCGT) and placed with the Host Employer for your day-to-day work. CCGT will support you throughout your apprenticeship while you complete a nationally recognised qualification, such as a Certificate III in Cabinet Making and Timber Technology.
This is a full time role, working Monday to Friday. The workplace also offers short Friday hours, flexibility and an office dog.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your first few months will focus on learning workshop safety, getting familiar with tools and materials, and helping experienced tradespeople with daily jobs.
As your skills grow, you'll start learning how to:
Manufacture cabinetry for kitchens, bathrooms and wardrobes
Measure, cut, assemble and finish cabinetry components
Use hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery safely
Assist with deliveries and site installations
Read plans and follow instructions
Work alongside qualified tradespeople in the factory and on site
Load, unload and organise materials
Keep your work area clean, safe and ready for the next job
You will not be expected to know everything on day one. The goal is to learn, ask questions and keep improving.

Listen carefully and follow instructions
Ask questions when you are unsure
Enjoy hands-on work
Have good attention to detail
Take pride in neat, quality work
Can work safely and respect the team around you
Have a driver's licence
Have a White Card, or are willing to obtain one
Have your own transport, preferred
School projects, work experience, sport, volunteering, woodwork, hobbies, practical projects or helping family all count. Include anything that shows you are reliable, hands-on and willing to have a go.
Pay
This is a paid, full-time apprenticeship. Current first-year apprentice rates are:

Rates are before tax and based on 38 ordinary hours per week. Your exact rate will depend on the applicable apprenticeship classification and will be confirmed before an employment offer is made. Superannuation and any applicable overtime, penalty rates and allowances are paid in addition.
