The Opportunity
The Hydrographic Survey Engineer will be responsible for preparing, installing and maintaining all survey equipment onshore (workshop) and offshore.
This position is based in Welshpool, Australia
Key responsibilities
Participate in and comply with Cyan's Integrated Management System (IMS), Business Management System (BMS), and Competency Assurance System (CAS).
Promote and support health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards both onshore and offshore.
Install, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair offshore survey equipment to ensure operational readiness.
Monitor equipment performance, report faults promptly, and prepare engineering handover notes and equipment fault reports.
Assist with sensor calibration, project equipment preparation, and become proficient in offshore survey software such as QINSy, Verify, and Fusion USBL.
Provide workshop and warehouse support and perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
Qualifications
Completion of a Bachelor degree qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Computer Sciences (desirable)
Valid C Class Driver's License
Minimum 6 years' experience in the offshore maritime, military or oil and gas industry
Experience mobilising vessels and equipment
Previous experience with a range of subsea survey equipment and software is desirable, including but not limited to QINSy navigation, Veripos, Edgetech Discover, Sonarwiz, Sonardyne, USBL, Side Scan Sonar, Boomer, Sparker, Magnetometer, MBES etc.
Can work as a leader and member of a team, or individually
Demonstrated safety management awareness
Ability to use established systems (Quality and Safety)
Demonstrated logistics experience
