Senior Technical Officer – Scientific Analytical Services Laboratory
Urban Utilities is seeking a senior member of the Technical Officer Pool responsible for providing timely analytical activity and throughput (chemical, physical and microbiological) under the technical guidance of an Analytical Chemist / Microbiologist.
The role is part of the Customer & Innovation group, and involves data interpretation, quality management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Carry out a specified range of complex tests; interpret test data to verify specifications are met and/or identify remedial actions to ensure conformance.
Carry out a range of quality management activities, contributing to the identification and evaluation of current policies and business processes that are best practice.
Contribute to reviewing existing operations in own area of work and generate new ideas to assist in identifying continuous improvements.
Use product specifications to design test procedures and standards, identify shortcomings in compliance processes, systems and procedures, and develop ad hoc solutions to problems within an assigned unit or discipline.
Follow the organization's HS&E; policies,
procedures and mandatory instructions; identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of oneself and others.
Qualifications
Previous technical experience in chemistry and/or organics in a commercial laboratory environment.
Tertiary education in chemistry/science, or specialist working experience.
Customer‐focused mindset and ability to build meaningful customer relationships.
Strong collaboration skills, aligning objectives and achieving desired outcomes.
Growth mindset and experience leading quality management activities and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
