Medical Receptionist – Specialist Surgeon's Practice
We are seeking a skilled, organised, and compassionate Medical Receptionist to join our busy Specialist Surgeon's practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced receptionist who thrives in a medical environment and is committed to providing exceptional patient care and administrative support.
About the Role
As the first point of contact for our practice, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients receive a welcoming and professional experience while supporting the day-to-day operations of our specialist rooms.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Greeting patients and visitors in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.
• Managing incoming telephone calls, emails, and appointment enquiries.
• Scheduling, confirming, and coordinating patient appointments.
• Processing patient billing, receipting, and EFTPOS transactions.
• Collecting and accurately entering patient information into medical software.
• Maintaining confidential patient records in accordance with privacy legislation.
• Ensuring the surgeon's consulting schedule is accurate and efficiently managed.
• Liaising professionally with General Practitioners, Specialists, Hospitals and other healthcare professionals.
• Performing general administrative duties, including scanning, filing, correspondence,
and document management.
• Assisting with other administrative tasks as required to support the smooth operation of the practice.
Essential Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• A minimum 2 years of experience in medical reception or medical administration role.
• Experience using medical practice software, preferably Gentu
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and medical software.
• Sound knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• A professional, friendly, and empathetic approach to patient care.
• A high standard of personal presentation and professionalism.
• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
Desirable
• Experience working within a specialist or surgical practice.
• Experience with specialist correspondence and referral management.
• Knowledge of public hospital operations
